DIY Windscreen Chip Repair Kits - What we think

There are numerous DIY windscreen repair kits on the market today but we are not going out of business just yet. There are numerous pitfalls involved with going it alone and trying to repair your chipped, damaged screen yourself as any number of critical online reviews will tell you.

First and foremost, DIY repair kits are only effective on small chips. A cracked windscreen is much more difficult to treat.

The way they work is by affixing a small chamber to your screen to facilitate the injection of resin into the chip cavity area but some product users report ending up with a bubble effect after they have applied the product. Most probably this is because they have attempted to fill a much larger area than the kit is designed for.

On a somewhat more positive note, DIY windscreen repair kit's are cheap and you can buy certain types for just under a tenner but sometimes, you only get what you pay for and some reviewers claim that their DIY handywork only lasted for six months before they had to retreat the area.
